Cookonnect is a platform that connects busy families with delicious and nutritious menus and great amateur cooks who will prepare the food right in your kitchen. Through NYU x SVA Designpreneurs Hackathon, the founder of Cookonnect Erica planned to make her business's website prototype. I collaborated with her closely to build a new meal plan reservation feature on the official website through rapid-prototyping and usability testing.

I conducted user testing including feature sorting and A B testing. As a sole designer, I designed user flows, wireframe, UI UX, and Lo-Fi & Hi-Fi prototype.

Cookonnect is a platform that connects busy families with delicious and nutritious menus and great amateur cooks who will prepare the food right in your kitchen. The target audience is mostly working moms who want to spend their time with their families, not their kitchens. The vision of the service is to make users get out of the kitchen and connect with their families instead.
Cookonnect is currently making its users reserve their service in an inefficient way, which is by submitting a response to a Google form. They want to launch a meal reservation system on their current website to accommodate growing numbers of users. Additionally, they want to further solidify their brand differentiation strategy.
Cookonnect's main target is those who feel meal planning and cooking are daunting but they want to give their families satisfying meals
Different needs within the family and kid’s unique requirements
Consistently battling a dinner rut
Between work and school activities people has no time
Highly customizable, homemade meals from affordable amateur cooks
Meal plans that provide a little help to a lot of help
Cooks shop, cook, and clean to remove functional tasks from their life
We conducted user testing on 4 working moms to clarify the key features of the website and tested what tasks should be prioritized for seamless reservation experiences. The tasks we tested for were Onboarding, Booking, Account set-up.
It must be easy. Users has no time and little patience for overwhelming or complicated experiences.
Users’ priority is the food rather than cooks. Users are most interested in solving “what’s for dinner?” and all else is secondary.
Cooks shop, cook, and clean to remove functional tasks from their life
I learned how to collaborate with the entrepreneur of Cookonnect which made me think about the business side of their product. This included placing a Sign-up page on their site, that shows the price at the end of the booking. Additionally, I proposed a subscription function to lock in long-term users for the service, while still providing the first trial option in consideration of the user's convenience.
As the sole designer of the team, I interviewed all the users regarding LoFi user testing and saw a lot of unexpected results that were different from my hypothesis. User testing provided rich insights that I never thought of, and it was joyful to see how Cookonnect can become a favorable and helpful service further as we go through those phases.
When it comes to the Family-friendly meal category, the use of hot peppers or spices can make a dish too spicy for a child, so they won't eat it. It could be helpful to have a spice level indicator and kid-friendly meal(chicken tenders, mac & cheese) option UI for each meal. It is crucial to consider the automated option in the website where family members will be able to easily note their preferences.
The mobile app can allow users to easily access the service. Extending the design system of the web to the mobile version will be the next step of the development process.
